Talmine
Talmine is a small crofting community overlooking Talmine Bay in the far north of Scotland. What I love about this area is the wild beauty of the coastal scenery along with the sandy beach and the small stream running into the sea. You may have to walk over a pebbly beach to get to the sandy part of the beach.
Talmine is a short drive from the village of Tongue and to get there you follow the coastal single track road to Melness after crossing (from Tongue side) the Kyle of Tongue Bridge and Causeway.
There is off road parking available which is also ideal for a picnic. While there is no public toilets at Talmine you are just around 6 miles from Tongue which has facilities available as well as hotels and a cafe.
Talmine is an ideal out of the way location for a day out in this outstanding area of the Scottish Highlands. Rarely will there be anyone on the beach and you will often have this lovely beach to yourself even during the summer months.
