Scotland Wedding Music
There are many types of music you can have at your wedding below are some of the more typically Scottish ones that can be arranged.
Piper
Traditionally the piper plays quite a big part in a Scottish wedding. He will be playing at the church or whatever venue you choose, he will pipe all guests as they arrive and for most guests that is a lovely sound, when they hear the pipes they get a lump in their throats. He will then pipe the bride up the aisle and then after the ceremony pipe the bride and groom back down the aisle. Usually he pipes the bride and groom into dinner as well. They can play a range of tunes and are usually able to play what the bride and groom want, within reason!!
Clarsach
This is a traditional Scottish Harp, the sound is lovely and very melodic, they harpist is usually in place in the venue for the guests arriving and then will play the bride down the aisle. They will also play as the register is being signed and as the bride and groom leave. A wonderful sound and so melodic.
Gaelic Singer
This is another option that can be done during the service, the signer can sing a lovely Gaelic tune which will be symbolic to the couple or just a tune they like. The sound is wonderful and usually they sing without any music in the background so all you hear are the lovely tones of their voices.
Ceilidh Band
Now this is for the evening get together! A ceilidh band plays traditional Scottish music which can not help but make everyone get up and dance! They teach the guests the traditional dances of Scotland, Eightsome Reel, Gay gordons, Strip the willow, all great fun and a great way to get everyone to mix and get to know each other! A great night will be had by all that’s for sure!
