Visit Scotland and discover exciting cities, beautiful scenery and many places where you can experience a holiday or short break of a lifetime in locations throughout Scotland. Visit Scotland with Visit our Scotland for Scotland Travel and Scottish Holidays & more.
Ardvreck Castle on Loch Assynt in Sutherland. The castle is said to be haunted. It is also one of the locations you can book for your Scottish Wedding in the Highlands.
Plan a holiday in Scotland and visit the Highlands and you will fall in love with beautiful Scotland. Gairloch in Wester Ross is an outstanding location for a family holiday in Scotland - sandy beaches, beautiful scenery, a golf course (shown above) and lots of things to do, from surfing, sailing to hill walking and of course fishing - sea, loch and river. Visit the Scotland we love - visit Gairloch. Achmelvich is near Lochinver in Sutherland. While I have a lot of favourite beaches in Scotland this must be one of the most beautiful holiday locations in the Scottish Highlands. At Achmelvich is a Youth Hostel and a caravan and camp site. There is also cottages to rent. This is an ideal location to hire a campervan to explore, it is certainly easier than towing a caravan! We have pictures of some of Scotland's finest beaches on our Scotland's Beaches page. The pictures shown below are from Wester Ross in the North West Highlands near Poolewe. We also have pictures of some of the most beautiful beaches in Scotland. Or just go visit them and stay in one of our featured bed and breakfast accommodation near Mellon Udrigle with Bed and Breakfast in Poolewe. Edinburgh, Capital of Scotland is one of the most interesting and attractive of cities in Britain and we have added a small feature page on visiting Edinburgh. Buy Books and travel guides on Edinburgh. HighlandsWe are gradually adding local information on places to visit and see in the Highlands. We love the Scottish Highlands and it is the place to visit to discover wildlife and scenery all in one package. Bed and breakfast in Poolewe, Highland holiday apartments near Poolewe. Scotland is also well known and loved by many people who visit each year to have activity holidays - hill walking, climbing, sailing, fishing are just a few of the many activities you can participate in over a weekend or over a long summer holiday. We have just started working on a Scotland mountains section as well as creating free jigsaw puzzles that you are welcome to share with friends (how else will they find out about this website?) First jigsaw is on Ben Nevis or you may just want to visit the Ben Nevis map and picture page. We have added a page on Carn Liath one of Scotland's broch's - or ancient building used 2000 years ago. Latest pages on Falkland Palace, National Trust of Scotland - Palace and Gardens. We also had a trip to Loch Leven Castle - just brilliant! DunkeldDunkeld in Highland Perthshire should be on everyone's list of places to visit in their lifetime. The magical scenery, wonderful countryside and wide open spaces along with empty beaches allows you to take time out to find your inner self and allow you to meditate and regenerate your inner spirit. Take time out this year and experience Scotland, discovering one of the most wonderful places on the planet. Dunkeld is certainly one of my favourite places and is a close driving distance from Perth, Glasgow and Edinburgh. Visit DunkeldMap of ScotlandBalloch Village, Poolewe, Dundee, Forfar, Montrose For the Dumfries and Galloway area we can recommend the Annan online website with a wide range of interesting and useful information. Scotland is ideal for the romantic weddings. You can fly from anywhere in the world and get to the Scottish Highlands for your once in a lifetime experience, so do it right and arrange for it to be in Scotland. and we know of an ideal location that happens to one of Scotland's most romantic places for weddings, the estate also featured on the BBC Monarch of the Glen, yes the wonderful Ardverkie Estate. The Ardverikie Estate is known and loved by millions as Glenbogle, it has also been featured in other films and dramas - you can read all about it on the estate website. The estate has a number of cottages where dogs are also welcome. For the perfect wedding or Corporate Event in the Highlands we suggest Ardverikie. This is one of the venues available for your Scottish Highland wedding. Scotland is teeming with wildlife and for those interested in wildlife you will be able to visit areas throughout Scotland famous for its rare animals and wild flowers. I live in Fife beside the River Tay and when I walk my dogs along the river I often see buzzards flying overhead as well as the more famous inhabitants of the area where I live, namely Ospreys. I take photographs of the swans in the Lindores Loch which is a SSI and often see the Ospreys flying over the loch and diving for the fish. And this is in Fife, just think what you will be able to see when you break out of the lowland areas of Scotland and travel to the north of Scotland into the Scottish Highlands. In these areas you will if lucky be able to see Golden eagles, Sea Eagles as well as wild deer and the smaller creatures including otters. It all makes for a special holiday vacation in Scotland. So make it soon and visit Scotland today. Loch Ness is known for the Loch Ness Monster as I am sure you are aware and while we have not yet seen it we are sure there is still many a mystery to solve in the highlands of Scotland, including that of Nessie, Scotland’s favourite monster. The area around Loch Ness has been a favourite for visitors to Scotland for many years and we are sure it will remain a favourite for many years to come. It never ceases to amaze me that Scotland is so narrow, what I mean is you can drive from one site of it, i.e. from Inverness, one the north east of Scotland, down to Fort William, on the west coast of Scotland in just a few hours. Compared to huge continents such as America and Canada we are just a drop in the ocean. I remember being on a train across Canada for over 3 days and most of it was flat, while in just 3 hours crossing Scotland you will see rich agricultural landscapes to barren moor land where the only neighbour is the wild deer and eagles (and the odd sheep). During this trip you will visit castles, see waterfalls and visit villages that were around during the earliest of times and are steeped in history. Visit Dundee with our Dundee pages. Visit and Travel - http://www.visitandtravel.com is being developed over the next few months (it would appear to be years!). I hope you have the time to visit this new site - and keep coming back to see how it develops; our aim is to develop one of the best independent websites on Scotland for you. See the Scotland travel blog. Explore Loch NessFor trips on Loch Ness, Jacobite Tours offers you an excellent and highly recommended luxury cruise to see Loch Ness as well as providing tours by coach. If you want to visit Loch Ness and you would like a guided tour from Inverness then we know of a website just for you - Loch Ness Tour with Cruise where you can be guided by real Loch Ness Experts who are rated with 5 STB stars. Discover Loch Ness. Near to Loch Ness is the City of Inverness and this is a popular place for visitors to Scotland to stay. Have a look at our Inverness Bed & Breakfast page for local accommodation. Scotland has hundreds of beautiful and isolated Islands. One way of visiting Scotlands Islands is by boat charter - visit our ideas on the best onboard holiday experience in the Scottish Highlands and see how you can have a holiday of a lifetime (I use that phrase a lot when I describe a visit to Scotland). Have a look at our Scotland Island Cruise page for information on this "never to be forgotten experience" available in Scotland. |
