5 out of 5 stars Essential Reading For The Hillwalker in Scotland   August 10, 2005

Top class volume, which must be essential reading for anyone who enjoys the Scottish mountains. Thoughtfully presented in a plastic cover which will keep the rain off the pages. Now if only they could impregnate it with something to deter the fearsome Highland Midge, the only beastie known to man that attacks without provocation !!!

4 out of 5 stars concise and valuable guide to remote Scottish tracks   January 6, 2001

For day walks or extended journeys where the requirement is to link a series of routes cross country in all parts of Scotland, this book is invaluable. The book facilitates long distance route planning by showing over three hundred cross-country walks most of which can be individually completed in a day. The routes follow existing roads, public and private, tracks and footpaths. Many of the routes follow old roads and drovers tracks. A useful map contained in the back pocket of the book admirably supplements the written information. A book for the serious as well as casual country walker containing information in a tightly written way presented in a user friendly manner. A first class supplement to normal route planning providing a short cut to researching wilderness long distance walks,as well as being a very useful tool to planning a day in the hills.
