Excellent device June 30, 2008 I bought the TomTom a week ago and used it immediately for 1000 miles or so to Brittany. Everything worked perfectly 'straight from the box'. If we did take a wrong turning, it was quickly picked up and we were re-routed. The only time it became rather confused was at a new shopping mall in France where there were no roads marked. We were impressed with the routing to hotels, which often involved complicated one-way streets. We were a little surprised that not all of the 'safety' cameras in the variable speed limit section of the M25 near Heathrow, were marked.
Could hardly do worse June 11, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Despite being sold as "Mac compatible" the TomTom is only partially compatible with Apple which is worse than useless. The maps provided are out of date by a matter of months even after updating and a wrong speed limit is worse than no warning at all. Anyone tempted to buy should think carefully whether apple or pc user.
Warning - read before you buy June 4, 2008 Amazon's website states, in the "manufacturer's details" that the One Europe 3rd edition has the Itinerary planning function - IT DOES NOT. do not buy if you value this function. If you download routes to the device, the built-in menus lack the icon needed to load them. I believe this will be true for any Tomtom using the Navcore 7 "light" software.
In all other respect the One v3 seems an excellent device.
Fantastic May 25, 2008 Just reading some of the negative reviews on here, I'm just wondering if I've bought the same product. This a fantasic gadget, can't believe it took me so long to buy one. As a tip, in the 'change preferences' section I would select "Ask me every time" for your type of route, because there is a significant difference between the shortest and fastest routes.
Brilliant.
Great for technophobes May 23, 2008 I got tomtom one, just for occasional use and have found it to be brilliant. Very simple to use and I love the way it just automatically re-calculates, if you go off track. Well worth the money.
