2 out of 5 stars Cheap, but poor   September 22, 2008

I bought this sat nav as a cheaper alternative to Tom tom. To begin with I was happy with it but after only a week it would frequently crash when trying to enter a post code, take a long time to pick up the GPS signal, and even though I had told it to take me on motorways it still tried to make me get off at every junction on the M25 and M23.

I also noticed that a couple of times i'd tell it to take me to one of my 'favourite locations', I would start driving and wait for it to pick up the signal, then follow its directions, only to have it bring back to where I started.

As a product I would say it was very poor but i'm not ruling out that I just had a defective item.

4 out of 5 stars I like this   September 21, 2008
I got this initally a few wks ago and it stopped working after the 1st day. Just refused to switch on for some reason so had to return it & got a replacement.

I was sent the 2nd ed. one and so far, so good! Has taken me where I need to go w/out any problems. You can do a full 7 digit postcode search, do a points of interest search and input & save a list of 'favourite' destinations.

This is my 1st sat nav so can't compare it to anything else, but I like what I see so far. No major complaints.

2 out of 5 stars Ok but not overly impressed   September 9, 2008

Bought this a little while ago. Thought it was great at first but soon realised that there aren't any updates since 2007. The roads around my area have changed alot so I often find I am not even on a road according to the Sat Nav. It also takes 20 minutes for it to find the GPS signal, this is very annoying as you have to remember to turn it on long before you set off on your journey.
With the price of better units getting cheaper I would recommend buying something other than this as this isn't very good.

4 out of 5 stars good value for money   September 7, 2008

being a trucker,i thought i would invest in a sat nav for the first time,as precaution i obviously know not to rely solely on the sat nav,but if you use common sense this is a good value for money sat nav,i would say though for an extra couple of quid you can get one of the better known one`s,other than that i would recommend it

5 out of 5 stars This machine is a genius   September 4, 2008

I like this little box very much. It is very easy to use and it will never get you lost. You can rely on it to make small or large journeys. It is very handy if for you to anticipate sharp turns ahead if you are going down a long meandering country lanes as you can see the shape of the road coming ahead on the screen. Any SAT nav would do this but this is at a much better price than the other SAT navs. No car should be without one. It certainly makes driving more safer and as you dont get lost it also is a fuel conserver and so makes driving kinder to the enviroment. Also for tourism you can find many points of interest including other helpful locations such as nearest hospitals, tourist centres, restaurants, shopping areas. It also has a good feature which you can build up bookmarked points which are not registered as points of interest and make them part of your library of locations so you dont have to repeatedly look for it. The only downside is that to charge indoors you have to plug it into a computer and not the mains, and the typing of words with a stylus is only done on an ABC format touch keyboard and not a QWERTY touch keypad which can slow things down. I know that other satnavs do have option to switch to a QWERTY keyboard. Otherwise it is very good and just cant go wrong with this little genius. I have used it in Republic of Ireland, Northern Ireland, Scotland and England.
