Good value but slow October 6, 2008 This flash drive is great value at 13 for 8GB, but surprisingly for a modern branded drive it is too slow for Windows Vista's ReadyBoost feature. If you have no need for that function then the drive works well, and is physically a neat design. Does have a pull off cap which would be easy to loose, however at present it would be hard to find such a high capacity drive for this amount or less.
Poor build October 1, 2008 Was great until plastic hook on end of drive snapped with minimal wear after 20 days. Although I back up data I nearly lost a lot. Sorry guys, need to improve the build quality.
Postage policy needs to be reviewed September 22, 2008 2 out of 4 found this review helpful
This is a con again. Trying to buy quantities of low value products on Amazon is not worth it as if you order 20 items you will be charged 20 times the postage when it probably costs no more to send 20 item as it does 1. I will not buy anything from Amazon again until this matter is addressed.
Not bad September 13, 2008 I got 2 of these as I've always been quite happy with Kingston.
I did some tests on performance: Copied 5 x 100Mb files to the drive - ranged from 35 - 40 seconds over 4 tests. Copied them back again in about 30 seconds - A little disappointed with this, I expected it to be a lot quicker.
Overall a good flash drive.
Small is beautiful... September 11, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Imagine 2 DVDs or even 11 CDs full of data... pretty big, eh?
Smaller than a penknife, this unit carries all your files between PC or Mac or Linux. I use it for file transfer as well as diagnostic programs.
Invaluable.
Having bought each of the previous Kingston DataTravellers, from 128MB upwards, the 8GB was a must-have for me based on compatibility and reliability.
The cap can be clipped to the end for safekeeping, stops any dust and stuff getting into the contacts unlike some other 'slide to open' units.
It's not compatible with ReadyBoost, but I have little access to Vista systems. My own Vista system has 4GB of RAM so it's unnecessary for me.
From Windows 2000, through Vista, MacOSX and Linux Operating Systems, this is a handy store that you can take with you wherever you go.
All in all a welcome addition to my keyfob.
