Aberdour Castle dates from around 1200 and was begun by the de Mortimer family. In 1342 it was passed to the Douglases and remained in this family since. This medieval castle has been extended over the years and is now in the care of Historic Scotland. 
Aberdour Castle has areas where you can sit and have lunch, where you can enjoy the historical background and castle as well as the beautiful gardens.
